O cantor, compositor e percussionista Magary e o grupo afro Malê de Balê, de Salvador, foram os escolhidos para representar o Brasil na programação do New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, um dos mais tradicionais festivais de música do mundo, que acontece esse ano de 26 de abril a 04 de maio, em New Orleans, nos EUA.
O evento terá mais de 400 atrações de diversas partes do planeta. Entre elas estão estrelas e grupos renomados como Billy Joel, Fleetwood Mac, Dave Matthews Band, Maroon 5, The Black Keys, John Mayer, B.B. King, Earth, Wind & Fire, Willie Nelson, Little Big Town, George Benson, Jimmy Cliff, Gipsy Kings, Patti Smith e Ben Harper and Charlie Musselwhite, entre tantos outros.
Black semba pelo mundo
A maior revelação da atual música produzida na Bahia falou (na terceira pessoa) sobre o seu atual momento e a responsabilidade de representar o país lá fora. “Magary não é axé, a gente mistura vários ritmos e várias culturas. O que eu almejo é representar bem o Brasil. É como eu sempre digo: vou atrás do Sol. Enquanto o Sol está aqui, eu estou aqui. Depois, o Sol vai para a Europa, vai para os Estados Unidos, e eu vou atrás dele”, disse Magary para o jornal Estadão.
O criador do black semba Magary se apresentará no dia 28 de abril; já o Malê de Balê leva a beleza da sua dança e a percussão afrobaiana para New Orleans no dia 04 de maio.
